Snappy Mail 0.1.0 for Linux
==============================

Snappy Mail runs on 64-bit Intel/AMD PCs (x86_64) with a normal desktop such as GNOME, KDE Plasma, Cinnamon or Xfce.
There are two downloads; pick the one for your system.

UBUNTU, DEBIAN, LINUX MINT, POP!_OS, ZORIN, ELEMENTARY
------------------------------------------------------
Use Snappy-Mail-0.1.0-linux-amd64.deb

  1. Double-click the .deb file and choose Install.
Or, in a terminal in the folder where you downloaded it:
         sudo apt install ./Snappy-Mail-0.1.0-linux-amd64.deb
  2. Open "Snappy Mail" from your applications menu.

To update, install the newer .deb the same way. To remove it:
         sudo apt remove snappy-mail

FEDORA, ARCH, OPENSUSE, MANJARO AND EVERYTHING ELSE
---------------------------------------------------
Use Snappy-Mail-0.1.0-linux-x64.tar.gz

  1. Extract it: right-click the file and choose "Extract Here".
Or in a terminal: tar -xzf Snappy-Mail-0.1.0-linux-x64.tar.gz
  2. Open a terminal in the extracted snappy-mail-0.1.0 folder
(right-click inside the folder and choose "Open in Terminal") and run:
         ./install.sh
  3. Open "Snappy Mail" from your applications menu.

This installs Snappy Mail for your user only, into ~/.local/share/snappy-mail. On a few systems it asks for your
password once, to set up the sandbox that keeps email content isolated.

To update, extract the newer version and run its ./install.sh. To remove Snappy Mail:
         ~/.local/share/snappy-mail/install.sh --uninstall

To try it without installing, run ./snappy-mail from the extracted folder.

YOUR MAIL
---------
Your accounts and settings are stored in ~/.snappy-mail and are kept when you update or remove Snappy Mail.
Passwords there are encrypted.

TROUBLESHOOTING
---------------
- Nothing happens when I open it: start it from a terminal (type snappy-mail) to see the error message.
- "The SUID sandbox helper binary was found, but is not configured correctly": run ./install.sh again and enter your
password when asked, or on Ubuntu/Debian use the .deb package.
- Gmail, iCloud, Yahoo and Fastmail need an app password rather than your normal password.
